That is the opinion of Jobvite, a US-based recruitment platform provider that recently released its 2013 Social Recruiting Survey.
The survey found that in addition to utilising recruitment software that can streamline client and customer processes, agencies can succeed by tapping into the power of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
According to Jobvite, 94 per cent of recruiters are engaging in social recruiting – namely, using social media in their recruiting strategy to directly communicate with candidates.
This was a significant leap from the 78 per cent reported in 2008.
LinkedIn was revealed to be the social media platform of choice for recruiters – the survey found that 93 per cent of recruiters used it to search, contact and track candidates.
"It’s no longer a question of 'are recruiters using social media', it's a question of how," Jobvite President and CEO Dan Finnigan said in a September 5 press release.
"We’ve seen a significant jump in social media engagement over the years; in 2013, it’s a given. Companies are ready and willing to pay for the best talent, and now they’re looking for ways to optimize spend on their recruiting programs to find those people."
He went on to say that social recruiting allows recruiters to quickly and easily locate "under the radar" candidates, or those who are not actively job hunting but are a perfect fit for a position.
