Jobseeker confidence slowly rising

On a global scale, confidence among jobseekers has risen four per cent over the past year – indicating some recovery in the market.

According to the Randstad Workmonitor report titled Employee Expectations 2014, 68 per cent of workers are confident that they can find a different or comparable job within six months or less if they needed to.

While this figure is slightly below last quarter, it still represents a slight increase overall compared with the same time last year.

At the same time, employees' fears about losing their jobs are at about the same level as they were in 2012 – although workers in New Zealand and Luxembourg recorded a marked increase in their fear of job loss over the past 12 months.

The Randstad Workmonitor, which is published four times a year, surveys employees across 32 countries around the world on a range of work-related trends, including job satisfaction and motivation.

Of course, the right recruitment software can also help to match qualified employees with roles that suit them, which can make the jobseeking process even quicker for employers and workers.

Being able to closely match jobseekers with roles that they are well-suited for can result in greater satisfaction and productivity for both parties, and can also lead to greater employee retention – although the survey found that many Australians will not be focused on working toward a promotion within the next 12 months.

Looking forward to next year, the Randstad Workmonitor showed that most Australian workers expect the economy to be relatively stable and steady, with 54 per cent predicting very little change in the next 12 months.
